A collection of publications on COVID-19 in Namibia

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-COV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV). (MoHSS, 2020)
The first cases of the novel corona virus, later named COVID19, were reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019. The virus spread rapidly to different parts of the world, with many countries reporting alarming increases infection and mortality rates. Social distancing and lockdown measures were introduced to reduce the rate of infection and relieve pressure on health systems and prevent them collapsing due to the volume of corona virus patients. Namibia confirmed its first case of COVID19 on the 14th of March 2020.
The Government soon after announced a state of emergency and implemented lockdown measures to curb the spread of the virus, as much of the world had done.
